OUR FOUNDER
With over a decade of executive leadership experience, Sharonda Simmons is a results-driven leader with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and designing sustainable organizational infrastructure. Deeply committed to social justice, Sharonda has been a trained facilitator in Intergroup Dialogue for over 15 years, empowering universities, educators, nonprofits, and communities with social identity development tools since 2007.
Sharonda believes that embedding equity and social justice principles into an organization’s fabric is key to its success. Her career reflects this ethos, from leading community outreach initiatives as the Director of Education and Outreach at Ozone House to revitalizing and strengthening operations as the Executive Director of Arrowwood Hills Community Center.
In 2020, Sharonda founded TNS Consulting (formerly Thrive and Shine LLC), a professional and organizational consulting firm that drives sustainable change through equity and engagement strategies. As a 2019 Champions for Change Fellow, Sharonda was selected as one of 18 leaders of color for this transformative program dedicated to advancing social justice and racial equity in the nonprofit sector. Today, she continues to contribute as a facilitator and advisor for the fellowship.
Sharonda’s dedication extends beyond her professional work. She has held numerous volunteer leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network and as Board Chair for the Women’s Center of Southeastern Michigan, an organization providing no-cost therapy and social services statewide.
A proud graduate of the University of Michigan, Sharonda earned her bachelor’s degree in English and African American Studies. Outside of her work, she finds joy in boxing, swimming, and cherishing time with family and friends.
